GP Trainees
The practice is a training practice for GP Trainees; Dr McMillan and Dr Minhas are the GP trainers and will indirectly supervise the trainees’ surgeries. A GP Trainee is a qualified Doctor who will become a GP through a period of training in hospital and in General Practice. The staff will ask you, when making an appointment, if you would like to see the Trainee GP.
Foundation Year Students & Medical Students
The practice trains Foundation Year Students and teaches undergraduate medical students from Glasgow University throughout the year. You will be informed if a student is going to be present during your consultation, you can decline if you wish, please let the GP or nurse know before the consultation begins.

Diane provides clinics for the management of chronic diseases such as, coronary heart disease, asthma, diabetes and hypertension. She is also an independent prescriber.

BSc Adult Nursing 2020
Claire provides clinics for cervical cytology screening (smears), and the monitoring of hypertension and other chronic diseases. She offers appointments for carers’ and new patient health checks.

Our practice manager is responsible for the day-to-day running of the practice. She is happy to discuss any suggestions or comments you may have.
Administrative/Reception Staff
The practice employs a number of administrative/reception staff. They are: Davina (Senior Administrator), Elaine (Medical Secretary), Julie, Deborah (Admin/Computer Operator) Caitlin, Cara, Sharon, Lorraine and Rebecca (Admin/Receptionists)
All of our staff are here to help you. Although you will be mostly aware of them at the reception desk and on the telephone, they are responsible for a wide range of clerical and administrative duties too.
We would be grateful for your help in understanding the problems they often face trying to accommodate everyone. Be assured that any information discussed with them is kept strictly confidential.
Community Link Worker
A GP Community Link Worker is a non-clinical practitioner who works directly with patients to help them navigate and engage with wider services. They offer non-clinical support to patients, enabling them to set goals and overcome barriers, in order that they can take greater control of their health and wellbeing. They support patients, enabling them to identify and access relevant resources or services in their community.
A GP or Practice Nurse can make an appointment for you.
Community Midwife
The team are based in Coatbridge Health Centre. You can self-refer for ante-natal care by contacting them on 01698 754704. They also visit mums at home following the birth of a new baby.
Community Nurses
Our team of community nurses is led by Gillian Dick. They provide nursing care for patients who are housebound and terminally ill at home when necessary. They can be contacted directly on 01698 754701.
Community Psychiatric Nurses
CPNs are also part of the primary care team. They offer a full range of services promoting mental well-being. In most cases patients will be referred to the CPNs by a GP or other health care professional.
Health Visitors (Public Health Nurses)
Our team of health visitors has expertise in preventative health including care and development of babies, child immunisation programs, pre-school children, and general health promotion. They can be contacted on 01698 754725.
Occupational Therapist
We have occupational therapy services based in the practice. Occupational Therapists (OTs) help you to manage everyday activities (occupations) that you are finding difficult e.g. personal needs, dressing, housework, hobbies, support returning to or maintaining work, carer roles, using public transport, socialising or being physically active. Referral can be made via GP or Practice Nurse.
MacMillan Nursing Service
MacMillan nurses provide a wide range of services in the community to our patients and their carers who are coping with life-limiting illnesses. Contact can be made through a GP. Advice and information sessions are also provided locally in the library on the ground floor of Buchanan Centre.
Pharmacists
There are two Health Board attached pharmacists in the practice. They carry out medication reviews by appointment and reconcile hospital discharge medications for patients.
Phlebotomy (Blood taking clinic)
Based at Coatbridge Health Centre - this service now requires you to make an appointment to have bloods taken, phone 01698 754720. There is no need to collect blood forms from the surgery, unless you are asked to do so, as this process is now automated. Blood test requests need to be ordered by a GP or Practice Nurse and not at the patient’s request.
Primary Care Mental Health Nurse
Patients can self-refer to this service in the Practice who are aged 16 years and above and experiencing mild to moderate mental health and wellbeing issues, for example: Anxiety; Low mood;
Stress; Sleep disruption; Poor confidence/self-esteem impacting on functioning. The reception staff are able to book an appointment for you.
Treatment Room Service
Based at Coatbridge Health Centre –this service deals with wound dressings, stitch removal, ear syringing, B12 and contraceptive injections. Call to make an appointment on 01698 754720.
